While addressing the audience at his Sunday (April 7) headlining performance at the Dreamville Festival in North Carolina, J. Cole released his diss track “7 Minute Drill,” which was a jab at Kendrick Lamar. Cole has since expressed sorrow over the release. On April 5, the rapper dropped his surprise new project “Might Delete Later,” which included the song as the closing track. On the song, he reacted to Lamar’s guest verse on “Like That” by Future and Metro Boomin, in which Lamar slammed Drake and J. Cole for including him in “the big three.”
“Apart from one part, I’m really proud of [‘Might Delete Later’],” Cole stated. Part of that stuff makes me think, “Man, that was the lamest thing I ever did in my entire life, wasn’t it?” I am well aware that many will be unhappy to hear this.
