Travis Scott unveils vibrant ‘Canary’ Air Jordan 1 Low OG, a nod to alma mater and broadway roots

The deep brown tones are immediately associated with Travis Scott’s Nike sneakers. A little olive oil here and there, perhaps. The rapper from Texas, Travis Scott, has gone all out for the forthcoming Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG [Canary]. Even though they were hinted at towards the end of last year, many sneakerheads were under the impression that these would never drop. However, an official release date has been revealed by the sneaker gods, and it’s far earlier than anticipated.

The sixth iteration of this Air Jordan style by the Utopia artist, these have a full leather upper and a plethora of perforations scattered over the toebox. He has sewn “Cactus Jack” insignia on the tongue tags and heel, and his characteristic backwards Swoosh runs through the lateral sidewall. Up to this point, Travis Scott has been great.

In contrast to the previous six AJ1 Lows, this one features vibrant “Canary Yellow” panels. Additionally, the ‘Racer Blue’ has been applied to the inverted Swoosh, and for a touch of extra traction, the Air midsole is lined with gum rubber.

Although the color scheme appears a little haphazard at first glance, it serves as a fitting tribute to the alma school of the Grammy Award nominee, Lawrence E. Elkins High School. Jimmy Fallon said in an interview from 2018 that he joined the Thespian Society there and first realized how much he loved Broadway and performing.

The announcement of the ‘Canary’ follows the announcement of the Travis Scott x Jordan Jumpman Jack ‘University Red’ by only three days. So, like Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper, this year is going to be massive for his sneaker fans.
