As a participant in the Mr. October Celebrity Golf Classic, Saban Һit the links in Palm Beach. Fif and Scott were Saban’s pairing for the event, which was hosted by former MLB superstar Reggie Jackson (Mr. October). Obtaining STEM funding is a priority for Jackson’s charity, and the event brought in over $1 million for them.

Throughout his time as a coach, Saban has maintained his status as an ardent golfer. He bought a house in Jupiter, Florida, last year, and now Tiger Woods is his neighbor. In addition, he has a stake in the Clayton, Georgia, private golf community known as the Waterall Club.

Saban, meantime, has maintained that he did not retire because of NIL, even though it has been less than a month since his shоcking retirement. “Don’t make it about that. It’s not about that. To me, if you choose to coach, you don’t need to be complaining about all that stuff. You need to adjust to it and adapt to it and do the best you can under the circumstances and not complain about it,” Saban told the network. Saban admitted that NIL represented the future of collegiate athletics, despite his prior reservations about the program due to concerns that it may lead to a “pay to play” system.

On January 10, Saban announced his resignation, as first reported by ESPN. Saban left the Crimson Tide after 17 seasons as head coach. Under Saban’s leadership, Alabama won six national championships, but they lost the 2023 Rose Bowl against Michigan, who went on to win the title. In 1973, Saban started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Kent State. In 1990, he took over as head coach at Toledo. After stops at LSU, the Miami Dolphins, and Michigan State, he arrived at Alabama in 2007 to continue in the same role. He wasted little time transforming a struggling program into the formidable force it is today.
