ASAP Of the members of ASAP Mob, Ferg ranks second in size. Although Ferg demonstrated the crew’s tenacity, Rocky will always have the title of biggest because he broke through first. Among ASAP Mob members, he has been the most reliable in terms of production and guest spots. Certainly, he was. Fans of the rapper have pointed out that in his new single “MDMX,” he goes by the nаme “Ferg” instead of “ASAP Ferg.” His possible permanent departure from the crew has been the subject of much conjecture since this.

Ferg and ASAP Mob have been at odds for a long time, and the nаme change is the result of that. By 2020, rumors were circulating among the crew that the rapper had left. On X (formerly Twitter), though, ASAP Nast set the record straight by saying that Ferg was heavily involved in their songwriting. His subsequent album, Floor Seats II, was released under the nаme ASAP Ferg, so it appeared like everything was alright.

The nаme change is shоcking because Ferg has been very silent musically for the past few years. Officially, Ferg has never been credited without the “ASAP” prefix before. Even a casual observer of the sport may tell this is a major shift.

Not as damning as it seems, but still significant. Back in October of 2021, Ferg did in fact announce that he would be going by a shorter nаme. His intention was explained in a statement he sent through Roc Nation. He assured fans that the nаme change had nothing to do with the drаmа with ASAP Mob. According to the statement, Ferg is still actively involved with the Mob and is known as A$AP Ferg within the Mob. “Ferg as an individual artist and with his solo career is Ferg.”

This is corroborated by Ferg’s behavior following the announcement. In an Instagram post, he and ASAP Rocky reunited to share a sneak peek of an unreleased song. In the best possible world, he would be on Rocky’s upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb. ASAP Additionally, Ferg revealed to High Snobiety that he had never imagined a world apart from the Mob. “In my opinion, the Mob isn’t going anywhere,” he said. It’s as if you’re stuck in the Mob no matter what. In comes blооd, and out goes blооd… There is no way to escape the mob. “So, that’s completely irrelevant.”
