West thanks Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner for helping him join daughter Chicago’s birthday party

A heartfelt expression of thanks from Kanye West to Travis Scott.

Saturday was the fourth birthday celebration for West’s daughter Chicago, who he shares with Kim Kardashian, his estranged wife. The “Hurricane” rapper insisted he wasn’t invited, but a source told PEOPLE that West is “always welcome and does come to family events”—and sure enough, he showed up at Sunday’s party.

Hollywood Unlocked posted a video to Instagram the same day as the party, in which 44-year-old West thanked Scott and Kylie Jenner for making it possible for him to attend.

West gushed, “Yo, I’m so happy right now,” as spoken in the video. “I just came from Chi’s party and I just gotta shout out to Travis Scott for sending me the address and the time, and making sure that I was able to spend that birthday memory with my daughter to be there with the rest of the family.”

The 24-year-old Jenner let the “Good Life” rapper in after security “stopped” him at the door.

“It’s just a matter of having a conversation, open dialogue and everyone had a great time — I’m really happy that I could be there for my children.””My life centers around my children.” He ended the video by expressing his gratitude to his supporters for their support.

When PEOPLE reached out to Scott’s representative for comment, they did not respond right away.

Kardashian, who was 41 years old at the time, divorced the rapper in February of 2021. The parents-to-be have two sons, Saint, 6, and Psalm, 2½, and two daughters, North, 8, and Chicago, respectively.

Allegedly, Kardashian was irate with West over remarks he made in his forthcoming interview with Hollywood Unlocked, according to a source who spoke to PEOPLE over the weekend.

West asserted in his interview with Jason Lee that he got into an argument with the security detail assigned to Kim Kardashian while collecting the couple’s children from school. West once said that she couldn’t bring their daughter North into her home because security wouldn’t let him.

Even if several of West’s statements in the interview are “false,” according to a Kardashian insider who spoke to PEOPLE, West was “not allowed inside” the star’s house that day. However, the insider said that security “didn’t stop him from seeing the kids, picking them up or dropping them off.”

The insider added that Kardashian “has a right to privacy and is trying to set healthy boundaries” and that “he just can no longer walk inside her home without her permission.”

Kardashian “only wants to protect her children and ensure they have a great relationship with both parents” after the breakup, according to the insider. They went on to sаy that it was “upsetting” that West planned to bring up their private lives in the impending interview.

Meanwhile, PEOPLE said in December that West bought the house just next door to the Kardashians’. After the fact, he verified the rumоr and stated in an interview with Hollywood Unlocked that he had purchased it on purpose so that he could spend more time with his children.

“Nothing with my career, with this rap, with this media, with none of that, that’s gonna keep me from my children,” stated the rapper. “And that’s what I want everybody to know.”
