DJ Premier reveals Travis Scott’s father played an important role in his early musical training

Even though he has collaborated with some of Hip Hop’s most legendary musicians, DJ Premier’s influence in the industry has no bounds.

The seasoned producer talked about an intriguing crossover from his youth in an interview that Idea Generation published on Tuesday (June 20). Preemo mentions Travis Scott’s dad, Jaques Webster Sr., as an early inspiration throughout their conversation.

The Texan friend’s nickname is “Jack,” according to the source. They live across the street from one other, and Jack’s mom was my English teacher. Jack also has a brother named Travis and a sister named Sonora.

“Anyway, as I got older, around the time I was almost in junior high, we would still visit the Websters’ house because they had a video cassette recorder (the first people I knew with a VCR), and they would record Soul Train,” he added. “Yo, I can watch Soul Train over and over and over,” I would sаy.The Websters not only brought Premier closer together through the legendary TV show, but they also encouraged him to take music seriously. At their house, he initially experienced the kind of music that deeply affected him in the realm of sound.

“I would run оver there and see Jack playing the drums, absolutely killing it,” he explained. The bass and drums are still two of my main influences when I build beats, and Travis was playing both instruments. He went on to sаy: And I asked, ‘Would you be able to demonstrate that to me?’ I learned how to play [hand drumming motions], and I began playing and jamming with them. I began playing bass with them after Travis taught me the basics.

For Preemo, this was a watershed moment because it marked his transition from music fan to musician. Whoops, that was back in the day.

“Then, before you know it,” he replied. Now I’m really considering that. I meаn, it goes all the way back to when I was learning and perfecting it; only then did I begin to incorporate it into my music producing style.
