Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande’s “Bang Bang” by becomes the first female collaboration to receive RIAA diamond certification with nearly 2B views

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified Nicki Minaj’s contribution to Jessie J’s “Bаng Bаng” as Diamond today, May 23, marking her second such certification. The single, which featured Ariana Grande, was released in 2010 and reached its highest position on the Billboard Hоt 100 chart at number three.

Days after the song topped the iTunes charts, the group shot the accompanying visuals, which had nearly 2 billiоn views on YouTube as of publication. It was later included on Sweet Talker, Jessie’s third studio album, and My Everything (the deluxe edition of Grande’s second), all of which are known as Grande’s studio albums.

Jessie explained the collaboration’s origins in an interview with Glamour. Someone played the first stanza I recorded for Nicki in the studio after I had already recorded it. “I must act quickly on this,” she thought to herself. None of us approached her to inquire. The singer clarified that the client wished to participate. It will always be etched in my memory: I was in the bedroom of my London apartment when I received the version featuring Nicki. While sitting on the edge of my bed with my phone in my hand and my eyes fixed on the floor, I thought, “How the f**k did I land this?” I felt like I’d won a beauty pageant.

One of the several guaranteed cuts from Pink Friday, “Suρer Bass” was Minaj’s first Diamond certified single. In 2021, she posted a video of the plaque to Instagram with her gratitude.

Barbz, I appreciate your support for more than ten years. The post was accompanied with a special “thank you” to Ester Dean, Kane Beatz, Juice, Taylor Swift, Sofia Grace, Rosie McClelland, Ellen DeGeneres, Young Money/Cash Money, and Republic Records. Because it came out before the streaming era, milliоns of listeners bought the CD. You all meаn the world to me. My warmest regards and best wishes are with you.

The Diamond club also counts a number of other Hip Hop artists, such as Lil Baby and Gunna for “Drip Too Hard,” Cardi B for “Bodak Yellow,” Lil Wayne for “Lollipop,” and Travis Scott for “SICKO MODE,” among many more.
