Usher receives the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards

Usher is set to get the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards, which will be held on June 30, adding to his already impressive list of accomplishments. The eight-time Grammy winner will be honored for his cultural and musical achievements, the network announced on Thursday (May 30).

Connie Orlando, executive vice president of specials, music programming, and music strategy at BET, praised the “Yeah!” singer for their lasting partnership. Usher continues to raise the bar for Black excellence in the music industry with his electric concerts, iconic voice, and signature movements, which have topped the charts, she continued. “To honour our worldwide icon, we are looking forward to assembling a sensational lineup.”

Artists that have made a lasting impact in both the music industry and public service are honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Notable past honorees include Prince, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Samuel Jackson, Mary J. Blige, and Whitney Houston.This year, Usher was not only honored, but he also received four nominations at the BET Awards. Along with Burna Boy, Brent Faiyaz, Chris Brown, Drake, and Brent Faiyaz, he is competing for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.

Record of the Year contenders include COMING HOME, a Gift & a Curse by Gunna, American Dream by 21 Sаvаge, For All the Dogs (Scary Hours Edition) by Victoria Monét, MICHAEL by Kιller Mike, Pink Friday 2 by Nicki Minaj, and 11:11 by Brown.

Along with a roster of surprise guests set to honor Usher’s career accomplishments, the gala will also feature performances from GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Monét.

The artist is set to embark on her “USHER: PAST PRESENT FUTURE Tour” in Atlanta on August 14th. The tour will make stops in several cities like Philadelphia, Boston, Austin, Charlotte, Chicago, and Detroit, among others. In April of 2025, the leg will travel across Europe and the United Kingdom.
