Travis Scott—who seems to have not performed in his hometown since the Astroworld crowd crush in late 2021—performed alongside fellow Houstonian Don Toliver.
According to Warehouse Live, a venue in Midtown Manhattan, Toliver invited Scott onstage to perform “Inside,” a track off Toliver’s new album Hardstone Psycho that features Scott. The Houston Press reported that Scott’s appearance was both “surprising and energizing” for the audience.
Ezra Blount’s family, who sued on behalf of their 9-year-old son, Ezra, who was the youngest of the ten victims killed at the Astroworld Festival, was among those who recently secured settlements in ten wrongful deаth lawsuits related to the event. In addition to Scott, many subcontractors, Live Nation, Apple, and Front Gate Ticketing Solutions were named as defendants. In October, a separate trial will be held to consider the cases of the hundreds of individuals hurt in the crush.
Even though his most recent Utopia Circus Maximus Tour did stop in Dallas and Austin, Scott still chose not to perform in Houston. The Houston Police Officers Union denounced Scott and encouraged leaders not to allow him to appear at Toyota Center after rumors started circulating that he would be performing there.
But he’s making a gradual return to the spotlight, especially in the Houston area. After Anheuser-Busch discontinued Scott’s spiked seltzer brand Cacti in the aftermath of Astroworld, he reintroduced it earlier this year. Cacti Park of the Palm Beaches was renamed by the Houston Astros and the Washingtоn Nationals as part of a naming rights arrangement that came with the relaunch of Cacti.
Then, a new line of collegiate apparel was unveiled, featuring designs from a number of schools, among them the University of Houston.
By sharing the performance on his Instagram account, Scott gave fans a taste of his Houston nightlife. Attached to the video was a statement that read “never abandon.” It included the Cactus Jack logo in a covert location.
