In the Yves Saint Laurent trial, several things are happening at once. Lil Baby and Gunna have been instrumental, but Young TҺug is the leader and public face of the group. As before, Lil Baby has spoken out in favor of TҺug. The hip-hop community, however, has taken aim at Gunna. Although he disputes it, many think Gunna betrayed his label boss in order to rescue himself. Young TҺug’s most recent tweet lacks context, which is crucial. The meaning of the rapper’s message to Lil Baby is unclear to fans.
On June 26th, the relevant tweet was published. Again, when taken in isolation, Young TҺug’s statement, “Whateva wham sаy goes,” fails to make any sense. Just because TҺug calls Lil Baby “Wham” doesn’t meаn he’ll back Baby’s outside endeavors. Quite straightforward. With the exception that the message was shared following the resurfacing of footage of Gunna online. In the video in question, Gunna confirms that he is still affiliated with Yves Saint Laurent. “I’m still signed,” the rapper scoffed. As if we hadn’t stopped pushing, we’re still offering. No changes have been made to the papers. The show is continuing.
Former frequent partners Lil Baby and Gunna have been feuding ever since the Yves Saint Laurent trial began. Even Lil Baby’s 2023 single “Family Freestyle” contained subtle jabs directed at Gunna. “Some ni***s taking pleas at trial I know that slime ain’t happy,” rapped Baby. On “350,” the rapper continued his tirade by referring to an unidentified target as a “rat.” Lil Baby is clearly taking a stand with Young TҺug in the Yves Saint Laurent vs. Young TҺug feud.
When it comes to TҺug, Lil Baby has never been coy. He informed XXL that he maintained contact with his label boss but had little communication with Gunna during the Yves Saint Laurent case. “He’s not like one of my rap friends,” the rapper sharply observed. “I count him among my close pals. We do, in fact, have phone conversations. For example, if we happen to be in the same city, I might be able to pick up one of those people. Whether Young TҺug was implying that Lil Baby wаnted Gunna off the label or was just co-signing Baby is unclear from his tweet. Whichever way you slice it, Yves Saint Laurent is where the focus will be.
